Nepali Children’s Trust
NCT was set up in 2005 by Fran McGowan with the primary objective of helping DNC (Disabled Newlife Centre), a small home for physically disabled children in Kathmandu. The main focus has been the purchase of land and the building of a purpose built residential home for the centre to give them security. We support the on-going work of DNC (especially education) but are trying not to make them solely dependent on us. We work closely with other supporters and encourage DNC to raise funds locally. We visit regularly and are actively involved in supporting children when they leave the centre (usually school year 10) in further education or in training so that they can eventually lead independent lives. We encourage volunteers and are in talks to support the local school. Other projects are being discussed.
