The St Barnabas Organ festival October 2012
The inaugural St Barnabas Organ Festival was held on Sunday October 7th from 2 pm to 10 pm to celebrate the installation of our magnificent ‘Hill’ organ. This wonderful instrument was previously in St Jude’s Southsea, and was dismantled and rebuilt here in 2011 by Nicholson & Co of Malvern. We enjoyed 9 short recitals, each lasting 20 – 30 minutes, including many of the most popular organ works, given by 9 different organists. The opening recital was given by the eminent organist Martin Neary. We used a giant projection screen so the audience had a close-up view of each organist.
